The Right Questions
Roleplay to test coaching techniques
- The Client
- A UK Supermarket
- The Need
- To give delegates on a coaching skills workshop the opportunity to practise their new-found skills and to be coached on how to refine/improve upon them.
- The Solution
- A team of four actors per event, each presenting delegates with scenarios focusing on how to respond to work-related performance feedback. After each 15-minute interplay each actor is required to switch into 'coaching' mode to lead discussion/feedback sessions.
- The Outcome
- Valuable practice in a safe environment for the delegates plus feedback delivered in such a way that it reinforces the key messages of the workshop as a whole.
- The Benefit
- The use of roleplay equips managers with the tools to encourage employees to take responsibility for their own development needs, promoting greater morale and improved employee retention.
