Roleplay in disciplinary procedure development
- The Client
- A UK drinks manufacturer
- The Need
- To provide line managers and union representatives with the opportunity to test skills gained through development in disciplinary procedure. To create a realistic character capable of challenging the delegate both with regard to their knowledge of procedures and their ability to empathise and communicate effectively.
- The Solution
- Develop three scenarios based on the breech of company regulations by a fictitious employee. Each scenario deals with a different stage in the disciplinary process. Teams of four actors attend each session to roleplay with delegates.
- The Outcome
- Realistic characterisation ensures delegates are challenged and stimulated to debate the issues raised by the development programme.
- The Benefit
- Delegate feedback highlights the roleplay workshops as the most valuable element of their development process, where specific learning points can be identified and acted upon. Delegates return to the work place with a more assertive and confident approach to disciplinary procedure.
