CentreStage recently provided roleplay services for a development and assessment centre for SA Partners, an innovative consultancy that inspires a wide range of businesses to raise their game through the application of lean principles. That means challenging their clients to find fresh and creative ways of operating and brings practical improvements not only for the business but for the people within it, which creates leaner, keener and more successful enterprises.
The assessment centre was designed and run by Banana Park. Banana Park is a creative consultancy that works with CEOs, Directors and Senior Managers to unlock their potential as leaders and awaken the talent of their people to succeed beyond their own - and their customers' - expectations. They help to pinpoint the performance issues affecting individuals, teams or the entire organisation and develop novel ways of addressing them.
Banana Park believes that solutions must be novel. Their aim is to reach new levels of performance - not old ones - by setting out to go somewhere where none of us have been before. Hence the name Banana Park! Chris Martin, one of Banana Park's founding Partners, is an Occupational Psychologist by profession. Assessment is just one of the many activities he undertakes under the change management and performance development banners, but one he believes is vital and in urgent need of the novel solutions he develops at Banana Park.
Assessment has been around a long time, but it hasn’t moved on and candidates are much better prepared these days, Chris says. "We need new techniques to help us to be more precise about the performance we are looking for in the role, and be more effective at separating out what the applicant is capable of doing from what they say they can do. And this is as true whether you are running assessment centres for recruitment or talent development".
