Act on it!

Faries, gnomes, mafia criminals? All in the name of development? In the world of training, the times they are a’changing!
Thursday 22nd September saw the world premiere performance of Act On It!, an interactive show commissioned by Bracknell Forest Voluntary Action as part of its ongoing development programme for members. Written, produced and performed by CentreStage, Act On It! is a two-hour show about the challenges faced by people working in the community and voluntary sectors. How do you apply for funding? How do you manage groups? And how do you make the most of the resources available?

The show also raises awareness of the benefits of signing up to ‘The Compact’. ‘The Compact’ is the agreement between government and the voluntary and community sector in England to improve their relationship for mutual advantage. By building better relationships the Compact can help government and the voluntary and community sector work better together for the communities they serve.
Over 200 packed into the Wilde Theatre in Bracknell for two performances on Thursday 22 September. Between scenes, the audience was invited to identify the key learning points and make suggestions on how to take things forward.

Linda Webdell of Bracknell Forest Voluntary Action, said, "We have been extremely impressed with CentreStage and its ability to identify and understand our needs. It's refreshing to work with a company which can capture, so clearly, the challenges facing our organisation and create an event which addresses those challenges in an entertaining and thought-provoking way."
