All the World’s a Stage

Shared Experience is a unique team building programme that combines the challenges and insights of team development with performance and presentation skills development.

‘The Theatre’. As an actor, it can be a lonely place, especially when you forget your lines in front of five hundred people. Mention theatre and most of us tend to imagine performers standing in their own individual spotlights. However, the reality is that theatre is highly collaborative. There are few situations in which reliance on the people around you and trust in their abilities are more fundamental.

Much like a group presentation, therefore, performing as part of a cast of actors is in itself a huge test of teamwork and interdependence. And that’s precisely the test your team will face in this fun, interactive two-day workshop. Having been introduced to a series of theatrical techniques designed to build confidence and trust between team members, participants will gain valuable knowledge and practice of effective presentation, how to engage an audience and use of body language to communicate ideas in a memorable way, before rehearsing and performing selected scenes from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Facilitated by professional actor/facilitators from CentreStage, Shared Experience is a challenging and extremely rewarding way of enhancing trust, inter-dependence and communication among team members.

What are the benefits:

  • Build confidence - which often comes from knowing colleagues better, and taking away the potential for surprises that can arise if people don't know how colleagues will react.
  • Enhance trust and creativity - In a creative environment, people are more likely to take risks, innovate and ultimately try things they never knew they could do.
  • Explore team dynamics - Participants learn about their role in the team and how each of their colleagues wants to be encouraged. Some may want to be cheered, others may prefer quiet and focus.
  • Develop presentation skills - Team members learn the art of presenting and personal impact, and how to communicate with and respond to audiences large and small.
  • Motivate yourself and others - Learn in a group and gain a better understanding of colleagues.
  • Communicate more effectively - For a team faced with a challenge, success depends on interdependence and belief in group responsibility.
  • Have Fun - because people learn faster when they are enjoying themselves!
